BUSINESS SCOPE
The sulfur trioxide production line uses sulfur as raw material and adopts the contact process to produce gaseous / liquid sulfur trioxide. It is mainly used for preparing oleum and organic sulfonating agents, and serves as a key facility for sulfuric acid, detergent and fine chemical industries.
Product Applications
Production of oleum;
Daily‑chemical industry: Sulfonating agent for LABSA (Linear Alkyl Benzene Sulfonic Acid), a raw material for detergents;
Raw material for sulfonation reactions in fine chemical and dye industries.
Safety and Process Characteristics
Highly corrosive; the complete set of equipment is acid‑resistant and anti‑corrosive. Sulfur trioxide immediately forms sulfuric acid mist upon contact with water, so water ingress into the system must be strictly controlled.
The reaction is exothermic; heat energy is fully recovered to generate steam, resulting in low energy consumption.
Liquid sulfur trioxide solidifies at 16.8℃. Pipelines require trace heating and thermal insulation to prevent solidification and pipeline blockage.
