Product details
Asia Chemical Engineering Co., Ltd. is one of the most reliable manufacturers and suppliers of sodium hypochlorite generator for water plant in China. Please rest assured to wholesale cost-efficient sodium hypochlorite generator for water plant from our factory. Good service and reasonable price are available.
How a Sodium Hypochlorite Generator Works
The sodium hypochlorite generation process is based on diaphragm-free brine electrolysis.
The system first prepares dilute brine by dissolving industrial salt in softened water. The brine solution is then delivered into the electrolytic cell, where direct current passes through MMO-coated titanium electrodes. During electrolysis, sodium chloride reacts with water to produce sodium hypochlorite solution and hydrogen gas.
The generated sodium hypochlorite is transferred to a storage tank or directly injected into the water treatment pipeline through an automatic dosing system.
The primary reaction process includes:
Sodium chloride (NaCl)
Water (H₂O)
Electrical energy
Output products:
Sodium hypochlorite (NaOCl)
Hydrogen gas (H₂)
Hydrogen generated during electrolysis is discharged through a dedicated ventilation or dilution system designed for industrial safety requirements.
Technical Specifications

Reduced Chemical Transportation Risk
The system eliminates bulk transportation and storage of chlorine gas and concentrated bleach solutions.
Continuous Chlorine Supply
Disinfectant is produced on demand according to plant operation requirements.
Lower Chemical Degradation
Freshly generated sodium hypochlorite reduces active chlorine loss caused by long-term storage.
Improved Operational Safety
Low-concentration sodium hypochlorite is safer to handle compared with compressed chlorine gas systems.
FAQ
Why Water Plants Use Sodium Hypochlorite Generators?
Water treatment facilities increasingly replace chlorine gas systems with on-site sodium hypochlorite generation due to stricter safety regulations and lower operational risk.
Compared with traditional chlorination methods, electrochlorination systems simplify chemical management while maintaining stable disinfection performance for continuous water treatment operation.
What concentration of sodium hypochlorite is generated?
Typical on-site systems produce low-concentration sodium hypochlorite solution between 0.6% and 0.8% available chlorine.
Is hydrogen produced during electrolysis?
Yes. Hydrogen gas is generated as a by-product and discharged through dedicated ventilation or dilution systems.
Can the system operate continuously?
Yes. Industrial electrochlorination systems are designed for continuous automatic operation in municipal and industrial water treatment plants.
