In-depth analysis of the entire process of the joint alkali process (Hou's alkali production process)
Full name: Combined soda production method, invented by Hou Debang, referred to as the combined soda production method. The core feature is: one set of equipment simultaneously produces two main products-soda ash + ammonium chloride nitrogen fertilizer, and the synthetic ammonia plant and the alkali production plant are jointly produced, so it is called "combined soda".
Three basic raw materials for the joint alkali process
1. Hydrogen production raw material: natural gas CH/coal
Water vapor is introduced to produce a water-gas reaction, and the production is carried out step by step:
CH₄+H₂O steam → CO (carbon monoxide)
CO+H₂Osteam →CO₂ (carbon dioxide, core gas for alkali making)+ H₂ (hydrogen, raw material for synthetic ammonia)
2. Nitrogen N₂
Obtained from air separation and synthesized ammonia with H₂ above
3. Salt NaCl
Industrial raw salt, providing sodium ions, sodium source of soda ash and ammonium chloride
Liquid: ammonia mother liquor containing NH₄Cl (two cycles of mother liquor 1 and mother liquor 2)
4、Heating ammonia evaporation: Heating the mother liquor, recovering the volatilized NH, and sending it back to the front-end "ammonia absorption" section for recycling, reducing raw material consumption

Mother liquor 1 cycle: focus on extracting ammonium chloride
The mother liquor is cooled down, NH₄Cl crystallizes out, and after separation and drying, the NH4Cl agricultural nitrogen fertilizer product is obtained; the separated mother liquor is returned to the ammonia absorption process for reuse.
Mother liquor 2 circulation: Return to the main soda production process and continue to replenish brine circulation to produce baking soda precipitate

Industrial glass: soda ash + quartz sand melted at high temperature, soda-lime-silica glass
Industrial soda (water glass): melting soda and silica sand, adhesives, building additives
Detergent LAS: soda ash neutralizes dodecyl benzene sulfonic acid, daily chemical washing raw material
Industrial baking soda NaHCO₃: Preparation by carbonizing soda solution again
New energy lithium carbonate Li₂CO₃: spodumene lithium extraction process, precipitation of lithium carbonate with soda ash, a cathode raw material for lithium batteries

Co-production of ammonium chloride nitrogen fertilizer, salt utilization rate is as high as 96%, and raw material loss is extremely low
No limestone is required, a large amount of waste residue and waste liquid is generated, and environmental protection is better than traditional ammonia-alkali method.
It can be supported by integrated construction of synthetic ammonia plants, internal circulation of CO₂ and ammonia, and lower cost
