Source: Raw material natural gas CH₄ (or coal); gas generation produces CO and H₂; CO undergoes steam shift reaction to generate CO₂; nitrogen N₂ is added; H₂+N₂ reacts under high‑temperature, high‑pressure and catalytic conditions to produce synthetic ammonia NH₃

Applications of Synthetic Ammonia Products
1. Fertilizer industry (largest application): production of all nitrogen fertilizers including urea, ammonium nitrate, ammonium bicarbonate, monoammonium phosphate (MAP), diammonium phosphate (DAP), etc.;
2. Chemical raw material: nitric acid, various ammonium salts, refrigerants;
3. Industrial application: flue gas denitrification and desulfurization; raw material for metallurgy, pharmaceuticals and organic synthesis.
Complete Process Flow of Ammonia Synthesis Production Line
Raw materials: Natural gas CH₄ / coal, steam H₂O, nitrogen N₂
1. Gas generation section: Steam reforming of natural gas (coal) to produce crude synthesis gas CO and H₂;
2. CO shift: CO + H₂O (steam) → CO₂ + H₂, converting carbon monoxide into hydrogen and carbon dioxide;
3. CO₂ removal and purification: Removing CO₂ to obtain high‑purity hydrogen H₂; carbon dioxide is recovered as a by‑product (supplied to urea plant);
4. Nitrogen addition: Introduce nitrogen N₂ to adjust the hydrogen‑nitrogen ratio to 3:1;
5. Ammonia synthesis: N₂+3H₂[catalyst]{high temperature and high pressure} 2NH₃, crude ammonia is obtained through catalytic reaction inside the synthesis converter;
6. Cooling and separation: Cool and condense to separate finished liquid ammonia NH₃; unreacted H₂/N₂ is recycled back to the synthesis converter;
7. Storage in liquid ammonia storage tank; part of liquid ammonia is sent to downstream urea plant, and reacts with recovered CO₂ under high‑temperature and high‑pressure conditions to synthesize urea CO(NH₂)₂.
Characteristics of Ammonia Synthesis Production Line
1. Two optional processes: natural‑gas‑based route and coal gasification route;
2. The plant can be integrated with downstream urea plant for combined production, with CO₂ directly fed for urea synthesis to realize park‑scale integration;
