Name: Liquid Chlorine Production Line
Process Logic: Using potassium chloride (KCl) and water as raw materials, ion‑exchange membrane electrolysis produces potassium hydroxide, chlorine gas and hydrogen gas. Chlorine gas is liquefied to obtain liquid chlorine. The chlorine gas bypass line simultaneously produces sodium hypochlorite and calcium hypochlorite. Hydrogen gas reacts with chlorine gas to synthesize hydrochloric acid. KOH is concentrated and flaked to produce liquid/solid potassium hydroxide. This is a combined chlorine‑potash alkali unit.
Main Uses of Liquid Chlorine
1. Chemical raw material: Used in chlorination reactions for manufacturing pesticides, dyes, organic solvents and chlorine derivatives;
2. Water treatment disinfection: Sterilization and disinfection for tap water and wastewater;
3. Papermaking and textile industry: Pulp bleaching and fabric bleaching;
4. Metallurgical industry: Smelting of non‑ferrous metals such as titanium and magnesium;
5. Downstream raw material: Used to produce chlorine‑based products including sodium hypochlorite, calcium hypochlorite and phosphorus trichloride.
Process Characteristics of Liquid Chlorine Production Line
1. Potassium chloride ion‑exchange membrane electrolysis process with co‑production of multiple products: liquid chlorine, potassium hydroxide, hydrochloric acid, sodium hypochlorite and calcium hypochlorite, featuring flexible product portfolio;
2. Liquid chlorine is a high‑risk hazardous chemical. The whole unit imposes extremely high requirements on safety, tail‑gas treatment and leakage interlock;
3. EPC turn‑key project is available, delivering a complete set ranging from brine preparation, electrolysis, chlorine gas liquefaction to downstream products;
4. Hydrogen gas is a by‑product, which can be sold externally or used for hydrochloric acid synthesis. Comprehensive energy recovery is realized for the whole unit.
