Process Logic: Potassium chloride (KCl) and concentrated sulfuric acid (H₂SO₄) are fed into the Mannheim furnace for reaction under high‑temperature heating. The main product is potassium sulfate, and the by‑product is dust‑laden hydrogen chloride gas. The dust‑laden HCl gas is cooled and dedusted to obtain pure hydrogen chloride gas, which is absorbed by water to yield by‑product hydrochloric acid. Potassium sulfate is cooled, crushed, screened and granulated to produce granular potassium sulfate fertilizer. This unit is a complete EPC unit for potassium sulfate co‑produced hydrochloric acid via the Mannheim process.
Complete Process Route of Hydrochloric Acid Production Line
1. Mannheim Furnace Reaction Process: Raw materials potassium chloride (KCl) and concentrated sulfuric acid (H₂SO₄) are fed into the Mannheim furnace for high‑temperature heating reaction.
2. Solid‑phase output: potassium sulfate (K₂SO₄); Gas‑phase output: dust‑laden hydrogen chloride (HCl) gas.
3. Gas Purification: The dust‑laden HCl gas is cooled and dedusted to remove dust impurities and obtain pure hydrogen chloride (HCl) gas.
4. Hydrochloric Acid Absorption Process: Pure HCl gas is absorbed by water to produce by‑product industrial‑grade hydrochloric acid.
Main Applications of Hydrochloric Acid
1. Industrial Pickling and Rust Removal: Surface cleaning of steel and metals.
2. Water Treatment Industry: pH adjustment of sewage, regeneration of ion‑exchange resins.

Process Characteristics of Hydrochloric Acid Production Line
1. Mannheim furnace process for co‑production of potassium sulfate and hydrochloric acid; one set of unit produces both potassium fertilizer and industrial‑grade hydrochloric acid simultaneously.
2. Hydrogen chloride gas is generated from the high‑temperature double‑decomposition reaction between potassium chloride and concentrated sulfuric acid. It is by‑product hydrochloric acid with remarkable cost advantages.
3. HCl flue gas carries large amounts of dust. Complete supporting cooling, dedusting and purification facilities are mandatory; otherwise, impurity content of hydrochloric acid will exceed standards.
