Source: Sulfate‑process ilmenite technical route; titanium dioxide is produced by reacting concentrated sulfuric acid with ilmenite

Complete Process Flow of Titanium Dioxide Production Line
Raw materials: Ilmenite, concentrated sulfuric acid. Core reaction: Ilmenite undergoes high‑temperature acidolysis with concentrated sulfuric acid to produce titanium liquid, which is further subjected to hydrolysis and calcination to obtain titanium dioxide.
1. Raw material pretreatment: Crushing and grinding of ilmenite;
2. Acidolysis process: Ilmenite powder reacts with concentrated sulfuric acid via high‑temperature acidolysis to yield titanium liquid (titanium oxysulfate, ferrous sulfate);
3. Sedimentation, crystallization and filtration: Freeze crystallization to separate by‑product ferrous sulfate and remove residues to obtain refined titanium liquid;
4. Hydrolysis: Heat the refined titanium liquid for hydrolysis to precipitate metatitanic acid;
5. Water washing and bleaching: Multiple water washes of metatitanic acid to remove iron and other impurities; salt treatment (crystal form transforming agent);
6. Calcination: High‑temperature calcination in rotary kiln. Metatitanic acid undergoes dehydration and crystal form transformation to produce crude rutile / anatase titanium dioxide;
7. Post‑treatment coating: Inorganic / organic surface coating treatment to improve weather resistance and dispersibility;
8. Pulverization, classification and packaging: Finished titanium dioxide; recovery and treatment of mother liquor and waste acid.
Characteristics of the Titanium Dioxide Production Line
1. Mature sulfuric‑acid process, capable of producing both anatase and rutile titanium dioxide;
2. By‑product ferrous sulfate can be recovered for external sales;
3. Equipped with a waste acid recovery system to reduce raw material consumption;
4. EPC turn‑key service: process package, equipment manufacturing, rotary kiln masonry, installation and commissioning, personnel training, suitable for overseas pigment and chemical projects.
