Name: Sodium Hypochlorite Production Line
Source: Potassium chloride and water undergo ion‑membrane electrolysis to produce potassium hydroxide, chlorine and hydrogen. Chlorine is used as raw material to react with sodium hydroxide to synthesize sodium hypochlorite.
Process Route of Sodium Hypochlorite Production Line
1. Electrolysis Process: Potassium chloride KCl + H₂O are electrolyzed to yield 32% potassium hydroxide KOH, chlorine Cl₂ and hydrogen H₂;
• KOH side: 32% KOH is concentrated to obtain 50% KOH, which is further flaked to produce solid KOH;
• Chlorine reacts with NaOH → sodium hypochlorite NaClO
Main Applications of Sodium Hypochlorite
1. Water treatment: disinfection and sterilization for municipal sewage, circulating water and drinking water;
2. Paper‑making and textile industry: pulp bleaching and fabric bleaching;
3. Chemical industry: oxidizing agent and raw material for chlorination reactions;
4. Epidemic prevention and disinfection: environmental disinfection, raw material for 84 disinfectant;
5. Electroplating industry: treatment of cyanide‑containing wastewater.
Process Characteristics of Sodium Hypochlorite Production Line
1. Supported by potassium‑chloride ion‑membrane electrolysis unit, sodium hypochlorite is produced using by‑product chlorine from electrolysis, with prominent raw‑material cost advantages;
2. Multi‑product co‑production of the plant: potassium hydroxide, liquid chlorine, high‑grade bleaching powder and hydrochloric acid are produced simultaneously for flexible product portfolio;
3. Chlorine is a high‑risk toxic medium, so safety interlocks and tail‑gas absorption system of the whole plant are critically important;
4. Liquid sodium hypochlorite product is not suitable for long‑term storage and is generally sold locally;
5. Complete EPC turn‑key project is available, delivering full‑scope services from electrolysis to filling of finished sodium hypochlorite products.
