Sulfuric Acid Plant Production Process Flow
Our mainstream sulfuric acid production line adopts advanced sulfur burning, double conversion and double absorption process, which is the most mature, energy-saving and environmentally friendly process for modern Sulfuric Acid Plant. The complete production flow is standardized and automated, fully matching the configuration of our professional sulfuric acid production equipment, and applicable to all our turnkey sulphuric acid plant projects. The detailed process steps are as follows:
1.Sulfur Melting & Filtration
Raw solid sulfur melts inside our sulfuric acid production equipment. Filter out impurities from liquid sulfur to prevent blockages and guarantee stable‑reaction conditions for the following‑stage Sulfuric Acid Plant.
2. Sulfur Combustion & SO₂ Gas Generation
Purified liquid‑sulfur burns with dry air in the combustion furnace to produce high‑temperature SO₂ flue gas. A PLC system accurately controls temperature for full combustion in this core stage of your sulfuric acid production line.
3. Flue Gas Cooling & Purification
Hot SO₂ flue‑gas flows through a waste‑heat boiler to produce usable steam. Then gas is dried and cleaned to protect catalysts from failure in later‑stage procedures.
4. Primary Conversion (SO₂ to SO₃)
Clean and dry SO‑2 enters the catalytic converter. With vanadium‑based catalysts, sulfur dioxide converts into sulfur trioxide (SO₃).
5. Primary Absorption of Sulfur Trioxide
98% concentrated sulfuric acid absorbs most SO₃ inside the primary absorption tower to produce finished sulfuric acid. A small amount of unreacted SO₂ remains in flue gas.
6. Secondary Conversion & Secondary Absorption
Remaining SO₂ undergoes second‑time oxidation and absorption. This double‑conversion and double‑absorption design pushes our Sulfuric Acid Plant’s sulfur‑utilization rate above 99.7%.
7. Finished Acid Cooling & Storage
New‑made sulfuric acid is cooled with our sulfuric acid production equipment and then stored in sealed tanks for sales or downstream chemical projects. The closed‑loop system minimizes liquid loss.
8. Tail Gas Treatment & Discharge
Remaining exhaust gas goes through desulfurization devices. Clean‑emission helps your turnkey sulphuric acid plant comply with global environmental‑protection requirements.
