Sulfur-burning sulfuric acid plant adopts Double Conversion Double Absorption (DCDA) contact process.

  1. Solid sulfur melting & filtration to get purified liquid sulfur.
  2. Liquid sulfur atomized & burned in sulfur furnace with dried air to produce SO₂ gas. Waste heat boiler recovers high-pressure steam.
  3. SO₂ gas enters converter with vanadium catalyst, oxidizing to SO₃ in multi beds with inter-stage heat exchange.
  4. SO₃ absorbed by 98% concentrated sulfuric acid in absorption tower to make finished sulfuric acid.
  5. Tail gas treatment for low SO₂ emission. High conversion rate ≥99.7%, stable operation, energy recovery.

 

 

 

 

 

Pyrite-based sulfuric acid production process (Double Contact Double Absorption, DCDA):

  1. Raw material crushing & screening
  2. Fluidized bed roasting of pyrite (FeS₂) to produce SO₂ gas, waste heat boiler for steam generation, iron oxide cinder as by-product.
  3. Gas purification: dust removal, arsenic & fluorine removal, acid mist elimination and gas drying.
  4. SO₂ catalytic conversion to SO₃ on V₂O₅ catalyst (3+2 DCDA).
  5. SO₃ absorption by 98.3% concentrated sulfuric acid to get finished sulfuric acid.
  6. Tail gas treatment for environmental compliance. By-product: iron oxide cinder for iron smelting.
